A formal mentor as a sounding board with compelling eyes could have helped her avoid unpleasant situations by pointing out to look back once in a while. Now, Valerie is on a mission as a mentor to save people from making the same mistakes. She can empathize quickly, has a helicopter view by nature of her roles, asks many questions, and discovers blind spots easily. People can do more than they think, provided they are comfortable. Sometimes, a gentle push gets them to do something outside their comfort zone and do more than they think.
