Unique Muriel
She loves the outdoors, sailing, skiing, or snowboarding with her family. Learning to play the piano is a form of meditation for her, and she's an avid reader of English literature and non-fiction. Currently, she is reading 'The Divergent mind: thriving in a world that wasn't designed for you.' Schein's 'Humble Leadership' is a book she regularly reads through.
No heroes for Muriel. Ideas inspire her rather than people. However, she does mention Queen Elizabeth I, who proclaimed to judge only based on behavior, not thoughts or beliefs.
Her motto is "Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass; it's learning to dance in the rain." Waiting for the perfect conditions is waiting to die. We need to let go of the idea that something has to be perfect before it is worthwhile," she explains. "Optimism is a moral duty. Perfectionism paralyzes."
Young Muriel has long tried hard to fit into her environment. She'd ask her young self: "Why squeeze yourself into a form that is not your own to fit in with people who would not appreciate your natural form? Show your true colors, and you will find your tribe."
