Throughout my long career, I have always found great fulfilment in coaching and mentoring people. I dare say the appreciation has been mutual, as I am still in contact with many of my former mentees. It is truly rewarding to see people grow — not only as professionals, but also as human beings.
I have also been fortunate to meet many inspiring people along the way, and they were not always the most senior managers. There is wisdom at every level of an organization. The real art lies in recognizing and valuing it. Being able to listen — genuinely listen — is essential for that.
I firmly believe that family and a stable home are crucial foundations for professional development. It is where you can be yourself, find rest and regain perspective. I receive an enormous amount of love from my little dog Musta. She was rescued from a killing station in Spain. In her own way, she is a mentor too: she never judges, she is unconditionally loyal, and she enjoys the small, happy moments. For her, every day is a fresh start — she never looks back at the her miserable past.
In my free time, I like to lend a hand in the local pub in my village. It is surprisingly inspiring, because all kind of people come together there to share a drink and talk — from the mayor and the lawyer to the farmer and the electrician. These kinds of places are invaluable; they remind us that connection and communication enrich us all.
I strongly believe in the following motto's:
Our newsletter is about leadership development through business mentoring.
