For 25 years I worked for an American company, 15 years within management and the last 10 years as managing director, i.e. the CEO for Belgium. Partly due to my entrepreneurship, the company has experienced continuous growth, both financially and structurally.
My motto: the 4 DNAs of a business: targets, employees, customers, and suppliers. The 4 links are all equally important to achieve success. I myself had 80% knowledge of all the different domains within the organisation, in addition I created a management team with subject experts, each within their domain, to form a strong unit together.
My career has taught me a lot of knowledge, not school-based ABC knowledge, but mainly a ‘how-to’ knowledge. As a mentor, I want to share this knowledge. I am straightforward but also a very emphatic person. Growth and financial targets are important, but the human aspect alongside the Euro is at least as important.
Why would I like to become a mentor? I learned to manage mainly by myself, on the floor, without any sounding board. I have found that in certain positions, you are often on your own.
In addition to your professional position, it is important to have an outlet, to have someone to vent to. An independent person who looks at your organisation in a different way ,with a helicopter view, and who can teach you tips and tricks.
At 54 years old, I have already weathered some stormy waters. I would like to share my knowledge and experience to help entrepreneurs and management teams grow in a positive sense.
Our newsletter is about leadership development through business mentoring.
