"I love to be active in my spare time. You can find me running or swimming or recharging my batteries by hiking. The occasions are rare these days, but I love to dance when the opportunity presents itself. I love nature and enjoy observing playful squirrels and similar small things that put a smile on your face.
Traveling by 4x4 through Iceland or Uganda energizes me; being on the move, the adventure, discovering stunning nature and exciting people with a different perspective, broadening mine. It has also taught me that I don't need to travel far to connect with interesting people; they are everywhere if we pause, look, and listen. It also taught me that materiality does not necessarily lead to happiness; on the contrary.
As an amateur photographer, I learned to slow down in life as I am more effective at a slower pace. This has also led me to visit exhibitions and see how others capture the same world with entirely different images.
I'm motivated by connecting with people, nature and myself, and co-creating to make the world a better place.
I don't have a specific hero, yet I value many distinct qualities in different people, primarily those I want to improve in. My former CFO, Sandrine Dufour, has excellent listening skills and was fully present in the moment and attentive to what you had to say during a meeting.
I'd advise young Hilde to stay true to herself, communicate clearly and non-violently on her boundaries and try less to live up to expectations or look for recognition from others; follow your path and enjoy the adventure.
Why do I want to mentor? I see potential in people and love to support people to unlock it. I enjoy seeing people grow and shine. I moreover dare to confront people and have learned to do this with care and by creating a safe and trusted environment. I have continuously invested in becoming more effective through various training and have followed a coaching track. And the gratitude you receive from having contributed to personal growth is priceless.
In my career, I never had a formal mentor. I turn to people I trust and whose opinions and contributions I value. There are only very few people, however, who venture to touch upon the taboos. I enjoyed having had some fantastic coaches on my leadership growth paths, such as Marleen Boen - Master Certified Coach and mentor and Philip Rosinski.
I want to close with the guidance given by the Rolling Stones 😉

But if you try sometimes,
well, you might find you get what you need."
