The unique Gunther
Gunther is a member of the board of directors of Propeller Club Port of Antwerp and the drama circle, a passionate quiz player, and a devourer of news. The world wars stories told by his extended family made a deep impression on young Gunther, so much so that he is fascinated by world war I's history.
Gunther listens to Mozart and Smetana, Deep Purple, and Joe Cocker. Taking out his motorbike for a ride is on his TO DO-list this year.
Mother and father Ginckels are his heroes, Gandhi and Mandela examples of exceptional leaders, putting the greater good first and consistently staying true to fundamental human principles, like non-violence. While Gunther lived in Africa, he witnessed Benin's democratization by then-president Mathieu Kérékou, who had the humility to renounce power for the country's good.
Carved on Gunther's forehead is "Leaders are not measured on what they know but on how they share knowledge." Doing so, Gunther steps in the shoes of his informal mentors, who gave him the space to make mistakes, who shared their wisdom and acted as a sounding board.
