I am convinced that a strong relationship with your customer is the key to success. What your customer experience should assure you to walk the talk of your brand promise. You can't leave that up to chance; it should be an experience by design and dictate your processes, IT landscape, and organization. This means you design your business from the outside in. While I have invested in building my expertise in Customer Experience and Marketing Sales over the years, I am most motivated by something new. As a consultant, I have finally found a way to leverage my expertise in a constantly new environment.
What I would tell the young Annelies: "Not all storms come to disrupt your life; some come to clear your path."
I had two great mentors in my career who were like wingmen for me while I was facing an – at times – overwhelming challenge: they complemented my expertise and challenged me to take a different perspective on things. By doing so, my mentors helped accelerate my growth. I feel blessed to have had my wingmen on my growth path through the years. Now I am inspired to do the same for others.
On a more personal level, I find it more important than ever in today's rat race to find the time to walk. It is the slowest way of traveling and a form of meditation where your thoughts fly an unchartered course. Every year for 17 years now, I do a two-week hike with my husband. Each hike is as much a journey through the landscape as the soul. It is a time to take stock of the past year and give everything a place to find inner peace.
Our newsletter is about leadership development through business mentoring.
