Spending time with his family, traveling, and culinary explorations, preferably a combination of these three, is what Bart loves to do most. Project management is his passion, even outside the professional context: reading about it, teaching courses, and writing about new evolutions in project management. Blog articles and not books grab his attention most nowadays. Speaking about books, Bart mentions 'Who moved my cheese' as one of the most inspiring books in the early days of his career.
Being able to embrace change, he considers crucial because it offers the opportunity to gain new insights, to learn. Failing fast is learning fast.
Bart doesn't believe in heroes. Anyone who can change his mind, who can teach him something, is the hero of the day.
Young Bart, he'd advise looking for diversity, getting to know as many people as possible, and paying more attention to developing his social skills.
Much to the credit of a few of his former managers, who took on the role of informal mentor, Bart could make a professional acceleration. The freedom of thought they gave him, their insights, and non-binding advice were crucial for his career. Now it's up to Bart to do this in return. Sharing experiences and knowledge, untangling the knot together, learning from each other is most rewarding.
