Unique Kris

Spending time with friends while reinventing the world, DIY, gardening (the heavy work), and reading about organizational and self-development are Kris' 'smaller' hobbies. However, his true passion lies in sound editing; putting together a stereo-image that has each sound in the right place is something that makes him forget time. As a side-effect, he’s also very interested in acoustics. He feels that the right type of acoustics in the (home) office is one of the easiest, cheapest, and underestimated adjustments one can make to bring a calming atmosphere to your environment. He even dreams of creating a business around sustainable and affordable acoustics, but he has other dreams to chase for now.

Kris's hero is producer Mark Ellis (aka Flood), who produced music for Depeche Mode, U2, PJ Harvey, Smashing Pumpkins, Soulwax, and many other well-known music artists. According to Kris, it is no coincidence that Flood was involved in all the breakthrough albums from formerly mentioned artists. A good producer like Flood recognizes the true potential of many musicians and hears the things that are missing in-between arrangements to bring it together to a song. It’s up to the producer to bring out the best in the artist and lift them to a level they didn’t even know existed. As a mentor, that is what Kris also tries to do. To detect the true potential within people and help them to become the best version of themselves.

Starting something, knowing where to end, and then handling unforeseen circumstances along the way energizes Kris.

Young Kris, he'd reassure that it's okay to take care of oneself first and not always prioritize the other. He now understands this mindset is not egotistical but, on the contrary, wise. "Go slow to go fast," his mentor told him. Life in the fast lane can spin you out of control. Now Kris adheres to the motto. 'Life is Tetris.' It is all about alignment. You build alignment internally between your head, heart, and gut. Externally you try to align with the ones you love, or you decide not to align with someone when it compromises what you stand for. Like a game of Tetris, new circumstances keep on falling, and it’s up to you to find a way to know when to align, when to put something aside for a while or when just to let it go.

Picking a mentor's wise brain and blooming under a fresh pair of eyes is a beneficial experience he very much wants to share with others.
